Julian Matrullo Eagle Project

Julien Matrullo

Julien was born on May 22, 2001 and lives in Stamford, CT. He joined Pack 11 at age 6 in September 2008 and bridged over to Troop 15 in 2012. Julien played Varsity soccer and ran track for Westhill, and in addition, he represented his high school at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) national competition, where he finished 9th in the nation in Banking and Financial Systems. He will graduate Westhill at the top of his class in two weeks, and next fall he will attend Georgetown University in Washington D.C. to study business.

For his Eagle Scout Project, Julien built an extension to the equipment shed at the Stamford Animal Control Center. Once the extension was completed, equipment that had been stored outside where it was susceptible to weather damage was moved into the new space, allowing the Dog Warden to better care for this equipment, and therefore, the dogs too. Over a dozen scout and adult volunteers helped construct the shed and clean the cages that were to be stored in it.

Ricky’s Eagle Scout project took place at the Stamford Regional Agriscience Program at Westhill High school. The project consisted of removing invasive overgrowth on a garden bed and laying mulch and landscaper’s cloth for the planting of native species. This project is part of an effort by the program to reintroduce native species to the area, and helped them by providing a new place for plantings as well as area to teach students about horticulture.

My Eagle Project

My Eagle Scout project took place at the Smith House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Stamford. It also included beautification of the Smith House trails including removal of litter and trimming and removal of unwanted or invasive plants.

He is a varsity athlete in soccer and track and field, the Vice President of the National Honor Society at Westhill, and a Lifeguard with the City of Stamford. In addition, he finished first in CT and 9th nationally in the Banking & Financial Systems event at the Future Business Leaders of America competition. Christopher’s Eagle Scout project took place at the Stamford Animal Control Center, where he led the renovation of a leaking and rotting equipment shed. Before the project, the only means of protecting various pieces of equipment was a tarp stapled to the roof. With the help of over a dozen scouts and adult volunteers, the equipment shed now stands with a protective roof, stronger wood, and a fresh coat of paint.
